Lord knows I’m no economic whiz. But when I see the Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke make statements such as, “We might be in a recession.” I start to question his money compass. Might? Dude, pick up a newspaper. Better yet, go gas up or visit a grocery store.
Might? One uses words like might as in, "I might tag Anne Hathaway." Of course, I may not. But the word implies an air of uncertainty. Make no mistake. The recession is here. And call me picky but the Federal Reserve Chairman should have more on his resume than being one of those pictured on the Smith Bros. coughdrop box.
Bernanke’s statements such as these make me yearn for the days of Alan Greenspan… that crazy, and often cryptic, Tolkien character. Might makes Greenspan’s “irrational exuberance” comment seem like an iron-clad truth by comparison.
Show of hands. How many of you did I lose?

Coping with stress...
I'd love to sit down with the person who created this. Think about it....What could be achieved if this person used their powers for good.

Restoring My Faith in Humanity...
Just to prove the world still has some decent people in it, let me post this:
A thrift store worker in Southern California says she didn't think twice about returning $30,000 she found in donated clothing. Barbarita Nunez was sorting clothes on Tuesday at the Veterans Thrift Store when she found a small box. Inside was an envelope of cash. $30 K worth. At first, she thought the money was fake. But just in case, she gave it to her supervisor. The money turned out to belong to a woman who had recently died. It was returned to her family, who gave Nunez a cash an undisclosed reward. Nunez said she will send some of the reward to Mexico so her mother can have an eye operation and will use the rest to buy a digital camera.
Nice story but who stores money in clothes? Ever hear of a b-a-n-k? Unreal.

March Musings...
From time to time, I'd like to roll-out "Musings" a kind of blog for the blog if that makes any sense. Ready?
1. Brett Favre retires--Let's be honest. The guy threw way too many interceptions to be considered the greatest quarterback of all-time. I'd take Brady, Montana, and if you forced me at gunpoint, Phil Simms. He won a Super Bowl, had a great career, and even had a cameo in There's Something About Mary. Now let's move on already. A compiler of stats, he'll likely be remembered as the Rafael Palmeiro of quarterbacks. Too rough? Deal with it.
2. Clinton Wins Ohio and Texas in the Clutch--Like a cockaroach, you can't kill her. She had to win these primaries. And its looking likely that she and Obama will be running mates in the general election against my boy McCain. Interestingly enough, Clinton and Obama, if given the choice, probably would not pick the other as a running mate. The point here is that the Democratic Party elders might not give them the option. It'll be a tension convention at the convention for sure.
3. NY Islanders Stone NY Rangers...again. The most remarkable rivalry in sports. Whenever the two teams meet, it's always close and down to the wire. It's almost as if the Rangers play down to the Islanders. More galling was that the Rangers put on a barrage of shots in the first period only to be outscored by the Islanders and stoned by back-up Wade Dubielewicz in the nets. And Jagr continues his misery on the shootout. Is this a mental thing with this guy? Including last night's loss, the all-time record Rangers vs. Islanders breaks down like this 98-93-19-3...At MSG: 59-35-11-2...At Long Island: 39-58-8-1.
4. Is it me or do all the guys on American Idol suck his year? For that matter, the girls too. As Randy might say, "it's just a-ight for me man." If I'm keeping it real.....yo.

Getting feedback...
In the first week, I've getting some much appreciated feedback. Here's some "suggestions"
1.) Stories are Unibomber-like in their length.
Yes, I'll cut back. At this pace, I'll wear myself out. BTW, remember the Unibomber?
2.) What's with the obscure references already!
If you want easy, read the New York Post. If it's good enough for Dennis Miller, it's good enough for you. Poor Dennis. The guy's doing gameshows! Memo to Dennis: Just say no...to something. Anything. This is what killed Guiliani. Well, that and his hubris.
3.) What's this blog about anyway?
When I know, that's when you'll know. In the meantime just relax and enjoy.
4.) Mark, where's my $100?
How did that get in there?
5.) When will we talk sports?
Everyone's a critic. May I refer you to the Roosevelt's Man in the Arena speech?
6.) It's Noon already. Where today's post?
Again. Let's relax. Rome, nor the Del Franco Daily, weren't built overnight....
7. Joba Chamberlain: Starter or Reliever
Let's be honest. I think it's too early to tell. Can you really tell how someone will perform after 36 innings? Sooner or later, Joba will be exposed. Make him a starter now. Although If Kyle Farnsworth is your best option for thr 8th inning, I might be getting my resume updated now. A billion-dollar team wih a 10-cent set-up man.
